Thurlby Station was selected by Robert Wade in 1892 with his wife Elizabeth. Robert and Elizabeth came from a small village called Thurlby, Lincolnshire, England.
They came to Australia as free settlers and farmers to start a new life. Here they reared their 8 children.
The family grew in numbers and spread throughout the South West of Outback QLD becoming graziers, bullock team drivers, fencers, dam sinkers and even publicans, just to mention a few.
Justin and Peta and their children are the fifth and sixth generation to live and work on Thurlby.
The hard work and dedication of Robert and Elizabeth to their family and their new found land, Australia, contributed to local history and to the generations they founded.
